Opening ourselves
to the Holy Spirit

This is the only prayer that is sure to be answered. If we ask the Holy Spirit to come, He will come, and He will change us.

Brotherhood of Jesus Retreat, Paray, Summer 83.

7 minutes

“If we ask the Holy Spirit to come, he will come and he will transform us”. Pierre Goursat experienced the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as a second conversion.

Following in his footsteps, we too can have a personal relationship with Jesus, by invoking the Holy Spirit, welcoming fully the fruits of this experience, and letting ourselves be transformed by him.
Embracing life in the Spirit, and experiencing the outpouring of the Spirit, allows us to renew and experience God’s love for us.

Accept this invitation to open your heart and your soul to a new conversion, and receive the charisms the Holy Spirit offers you.

Lord, we thank You for sending us your Spirit.
So, help us to resemble those who have risen again.

WHAT WE NEED TO REMEMBER

The desire for God

If we don't feel the desire for the Holy Spirit in our hearts, we can ask the Lord for this desire... and even desire for desire! The Lord is simply waiting to grant our wish. God always answers in the end.

The fruits of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit works in us if we are willing to let Him. He transforms us and, little by little, gives us His peace and joy.

The need for the Holy Spirit

If we want to do things for the Lord by relying only on ourselves, we will not achieve much... But if we ask the Holy Spirit to guide us in His purpose, not ours, little by little, we enter into the will of God. It means moving from doing things for God to doing things of God or with God. In a Christian community, it is the Spirit who creates unity.

Cooperating with the Holy Spirit

It's not a question of passively waiting for the Holy Spirit to act. God guides us through perseverance and fidelity, so that we fall into neither voluntarism nor passivity. "He who created us without our help will not save us without our consent." (St Augustine).

If you really try to love others, the Lord opens your heart to the love of others, and when your heart is open, it opens to the Lord's Spirit. And at that moment, you hear...
