VISIT OF THE HOUSEBOAT IN VIDEO

The barge was bought in 1971 by Pierre Goursat, who would found the Emmanuel Community a few years later. He wanted to use it as a drug prevention center, but in the end the place was not quite suitable for that. Pierre Goursat moved there in 1978, along with Martine and Hervé-Marie Catta, their children and a few others. With the installation of the Community’s offices, the barge became a focal point of the Emmanuel and remained so until 2011. The barge took a new turn in 2016 with the arrival of a fraternity of priests with a couple living the communion of states of life. Although the houseboat has undergone some changes since then, the oratory and Pierre’s room have remained as they were.
